Sewing Alteration || Baggy Jumper

Oh hello!
I feel like it has been an eternity since I've gotten my fingers into some sewing, and they were itching to create something again. I suppose it isn't "create" so much as "alter" but you get my point.
I bought this jumper back in winter 2013, and despite liking it at the start it was just always pushed to the back of my cupboard by items I liked better.

That has all changed now though! I removed the sequinned collar, and embroidered one of my favourite quotes on the front of it, as well as pink accents around the neck and sleeves. I now can't wait for winter to show its chilly face so I can wear it everywhere.

"Though my soul may set in darkness, it will rise in perfect light; I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night." ~Sarah Williams 'The Old Astronomer'

Have any of you been doing some sewing recently? I find it very soothing.

Craft || Crochet Doll.

Hello again lovelies!
Another midweek post... A few days ago I was having a crochet-crazy day. I just felt like making something, and found this lovely pattern for an amigurumi doll! It was definitely the trickiest thing that I've crocheted, but I absolutely loved how it turned out! I ended up naming her Stella :)

What do you think? Do any of you crochet?

Autumn's Soundtrack.

Autumn.
The season of change, as once green leaves shift their hue and break their last ties with the trees on which they were born. In Autumn, time itself feels as though it has ceased to move, like never again will you feel the frosty bite of a winter morning, or the all enclosing heat of a summer afternoon. Autumn is a world in itself, it is ever-shortening days that creep closer on both sides like the hug of a well-loved sweater. It's a cool breeze on your face and the warm sun on your back. Autumn is life taken slowly, long walks and long reads. Where even the sun mourns the passing of time, in a brilliant flash of orange as it dips below the horizon, the only tell-tale sign of an ever-encroaching winter.

This playlist is my attempt at bottling the feelings of Autumn into a snippet of time. It's songs that place an orange veil over my world, and warm me internally in a way the crackling embers of a fireplace never could. Press play and close your eyes, may you be transported to a place where it's Autumn eternally.

She had sweet velvet eyes, but a prison cell heart.

I'm starting a new section on my blog, where I'll post pages from my journal, usually without text to accompany it. Let me know what you think of this kind of post!

Also, just an update:
Last month I was featured on Nina's lovely blog. She was so sweet and I'd love for you guys to check it out! (and consider following her while you're there!)

Haircut.

Just thought I'd do a quick mid-week update for you all...
I got my hair cut! I'd been um-ing and ah-ing over whether or not I should get it done for the longest time, but I finally did it!

A few days before hand I'd almost cancelled the appointment out of sheer nerves. I'd never cut my hair this short before and I didn't really know if short hair would look good on me or not.

I'm really glad I decided to suck it up and go do it, because I love it so much! It still has a balayage like last time, just much shorter!

If you're considering cutting your hair or doing something radically different with your life, I say go and do it! It's amazing how emotionally attached we can get to things (like our hair) and sometimes you just need a good reminder that you are more than your appearance or a material object.

Hope you guys like the haircut too!

Monthly Favourites || February

Hello hello!
February was a bit of an ugly month for me blogging-wise, but that doesn't mean it was horrid in general! So here's a few things I've been enjoying this month, and some that you might enjoy too.

Favourite Song:

My song of the month would definitely have to be "Sight of the Sun" by Fun I heard this song while watching Girls and immediately fell in love with it! It's such a sweet and uplifting song. Makes me smile every time!

Favourite Book:

If you follow me on instagram, there's probably no doubt in your mind as to which book this is.
Here's the blurb:

Into the Wild
In April 1992 a young man from a well-to-do family hitchhiked to Alaska and walked alone into the wilderness north of Mt. McKinley. His name was Christopher Johnson McCandless. He had given $25,000 in savings to charity, abandoned his car and most of his possessions, burned all the cash in his wallet, and invented a new life for himself. Four months later, his decomposed body was found by a party of moose hunters. How McCandless came to die is the unforgettable story of Into the Wild.

Immediately after graduating from college in 1991, McCandless had roamed through the West and Southwest on a vision quest like those made by his heroes Jack London and John Muir. In the Mojave Desert he abandoned his car, stripped it of its license plates, and burned all of his cash. He would give himself a new name, Alexander Supertramp, and , unencumbered by money and belongings, he would be free to wallow in the raw, unfiltered experiences that nature presented. Craving a blank spot on the map, McCandless simply threw the maps away. Leaving behind his desperate parents and sister, he vanished into the wild.

Favourite Moment:

I've had a few lovely moments this month, but my absolute favourite would have to be hitting 10 000 followers on my poetry tumblr! It was my goal for the entire year to hit 10 000 followers, so to do so before 2 months of it are even over is absolutely crazy! (and incredibly overwhelming)

Favourite Quote:

Favourite Photo:

I've been really into stargazing again this month (when am I ever not?) But I found this photo, and I don't think my mind will every be strong enough to comprehend it.

Next Month:

Next month I hope to get a proper job! I've been looking for a while and haven't found anything yet. Since I'm not going to university this year, it's important that I have some way of making money.

I hope you've all had a good February and are looking forward to the changes that March is going to bring!
