I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself.

For some reason I seem to have this problem whereby any item of clothing I ever acquire I automatically look for ways I can alter it. The last item to befall this fate was my new pair of converse that I bought while I was overseas. I can already hear you wondering "but Erin, what about your pair of boots that never appear to leave your feet?" Well, curious questioner, my boots are still around but their soles are so thin and worn that it wears down my own soul. I think it's high time I own more than one pair of shoes fit for adventuring, and now I feel as though this embroidery makes my converse just a little bit more fit for the job.

Musings || Instant Existence

On a side note: I think I want to start a monthly "Musings" series on this blog. At the moment hardly any of my posts feel like they're letting me actually express myself in the way I want, they're just a bunch of photos and words designed to be attractive to you as a reader. But please excuse me for announcing that this blog was never intended for you dear reader, but for me. You see what's the point in putting so much into something to not personally gain anything from it. I don't know what this means just yet, but I think it means my blog might be changing slightly in the future.

But until I work it out do let me know your thoughts on this piece of writing. Agree or disagree I don't mind, all opinions are appreciated.

Video || Long Island

This is the second in a series of videos I'm posting from my adventures in the USA from June to September. You can watch the first part here.

From the middle to the end of August Carly and her family ever so kindly let me stay with them. The whole experience was quite surreal to be honest, having sent letters back and forth across the ocean to Carly for a year and a half now it was absolutely amazing to finally meet her in person, and she did not disappoint.

We found sunflower fields, ran through pine trees and watched a super moon rise over the ocean, and every memory is one I will remember for a long time to come!

As you're reading this I am already back on home soil, and most likely itching to plan my next big adventure. Until then I'll just keep on dreaming.

PS. Keep and eye out for video 3 soon!

Playlist || An Ode to Coming Home

Today marks 80 days since I left home, and in one more week I'll be back in its safe embrace once again. There's always something about leaving a place you've known for your entire life; when you finally return everything seems to glitter a little more than usual. You find happiness where before you found mediocrity, beauty where before it was just the everyday. Perhaps we all just need a place where the shape of our body is already worn into the furniture.

Either way, the end of my travels is coming quickly, and although I will miss the freedom that being away from home gives me I will admit I'm also excited to return to the place I know better than any other.

Listen to my playlist here.

Adventure || Pine Tree Parties

Somedays you're at home in your tiny little sewing room stuck with a world view no bigger than what you can see out your window, and then other days you find yourself on the opposite end of the earth running through pine trees with a person who previously only existed as handwriting on a piece of paper.

And that's when you realise you could never really tire of this life. Not now, not tomorrow, not ever.

The Constellation Catalogue || #3: Leo

Hello and welcome to our third constellation! If you were born between July 23rd and August 22nd  then this one is your star sign: Leo the Lion! Leo is one of those lucky few constellations which actually slightly resemble the creature or object they were named after, although unfortunately here in the southern hemisphere it's always upside down.

Download the sheet here and find a star map for your location here.

If you live in the Northern Hemisphere you're also lucky enough to be able to see the Perseid Meteor Shower this month with the peak being early in the morning of August 13th. It's summer in the north so why not try getting up early to catch some meteors? If the conditions are right you definitely won't regret it.
