Opening My Etsy || The Curious Cosmos

Hey! This is just a little post to let you know that I finally opened my Etsy! I'd tell you why it took so long after having everything ready to go three months ago but that's worthy of its own blogpost. So for now I introduce you to The Curious Cosmos!

I've made it as a collaboration between the craft side of this blog and the writing side of my poetry blog. At the moment I've only made pencilcases but I'm looking to start branching out into different things soon!

So a question: What are some of the things you've seen that I've made or could make that you think would be good for an Etsy store? Ideas are more than welcome.

Do you have your own Etsy? If so let me know in the comments so I can take a look!

The Little Things

Some things are easy to remember: birthdays, travels,  moments that change who you are. But I think the little things deserve to be remembered just as much, which is why I've started making a note of as many of them as I can find. All you need is a jar for their safe keeping and a new perspective on the world. They're perfect things to look back on when everything feels too heavy.

DIY || Reusable Natural Flower Crown

Hello! Today I thought I would show you all how to make the super simple flower crown that I was wearing in my latest outfit post. It was so much fun to make and the best part is that I'll be able to use it over and over again and change it each time! So here's how to make your own:

You will need:

-String
- Thicker thread/yarn/whatever you desire (I used green waxed cotton)
- Two springy sticks, or just one if it's super springy! I started off with two thin sticks but they snapped so I moved on to a stick from a Weeping Bottlebrush tree which worked much better and gave a wonderful circular shape. Go on a hunt for a tree with nimble twigs!
- Fake or real flowers (as desired)
- An abundance of greenery

What to do:
1. Begin by tying your stick/s together with the string to form a crown shape. Measure it around your head so you know it won't be too small or too big.
2. Tie one end of your thicker thread to the crown and begin working around it, making knots like the ones shown above. How far apart or close together you space them is completely up to you. Try not to pull the thread too tight or you'll have difficulties threading your leaves through.
3. Collect some greenery. Go out and find some leaves and flowers that take your fancy, or you could always buy a bunch of flowers to use!
4. One by one, thread the stems of the leaves through the spaces in between the knots you've just made, weaving in and out of each section until you run out of stem to work with.
5. Continue to thread leaves all the way around. You might want to overlap some of them so they get pressed up against the crown instead of sticking out at every angle.
6. Add any flowers or anything else you want to. If you don't have real flowers you can always opt for fake ones like I did!
7. Proceed to dance around like you're a princess of the forest.

The best thing about this crown is that when the leaves and flowers start to die you can just get rid of them and make a new crown with the same base. It's so much easier than having to make it all over again!

Now go and enjoy!

PS: A couple of things
1. My camera that I take photos for my blogposts on decided to up and die the other day. I've still got photos taken for another post but after that I'm without a camera. I'm currently saving up to buy a new one so if you start noticing a plethora of posts without photos you know why.
2. This is my 200th post! I think that's pretty awesome :)

A Beginner's Guide To Mindfulness

Since the beginning of the year I've been trying really hard to be more mindful everyday. Last year it felt like every single month just flew past without even stopping and I definitely don't want that happening in 2015. Here's a few of the things that I try to do to stay mindful, and I thought it might help some of you out as well. Enjoy!

Are there any other things that you do to stay mindful? I'd love to know!

Outfit || March

There's not much I can say about this one other than:
1. I had the best fun taking photos
2. I promise I started off wearing shoes, but it didn't feel right to have nature in my hair but not between my toes
3. Crowns make me feel like a princess and that's all I ever want in life
