The Secret of The Stars

Sometimes I feel as though we don't pay enough attention to the stars, trapped instead inside a mind that can stretch no further than the limits of our earth. But when we do take the time to step outside of our own worries and look up at them, it's like everything falls into perspective. How small and insignificant I am, and yet how lucky that my atoms had the chance to find themselves on this planet, in this time, and create me.

We as humans are the only known creatures to be able to marvel at our place in the universe. Make the most of it, and next time your mind gets loud and the world gets dark perhaps you should pay the stars a visit.

Sewing || You Are The Universe In Ecstatic Motion

If you've been on this blog for a while you'll know that I absolutely love clothes that look like they have a story behind them, so when I got the idea for this dress I just had to make it RIGHT AWAY.

I've always loved the fact that we are (if you'll excuse the pun) cut from the same cloth as the stars. So much so that on days that aren't that great all I need to do is remind myself that I have the atoms of stars within me and it gets a little brighter. So I guess it was only a matter of time before I made myself a space themed dress, I call it my "Secret Universe" dress, to remind me that we all have the universe inside us. 

It was so good taking on a big 3 day sewing project again (my last one was this dress) although the state of my bedroom and the house chores (sorry Mum) went down the drain. I've never been good at multi-tasking! In the end the iron-burned and pin-pricked fingertips were worth it though, because I got my new favourite dress out of it.

Outfit || February

Let's not mention the fact that my past 2 outfit posts have included maxi skirts... but I'm just so in love with them! This one is definitely my fanciest, I love the forest pattern that it has around the bottom of it, and the colours are all so beautiful! We're moving into Autumn in Australia now so you can bet I'll be living in these skirts.

On an unrelated note, I learnt how to make my handwriting into a font on the computer! That's the font that the quote by Thoreau is in (it's definitely up there with my favourite quotes, and sometimes I find myself repeating it in my mind without knowing).

A List || 9 Steps to Feeling Better Again

You have bad days, we all do. They creep up on us just when we thought we were on track and send us into a downwards spiral of questioning whether we're even facing the right way let alone on the right track. But bad days should be isolated things, don't let them seep across the borders of time into bad weeks and bad months. You are (for the most part) in control of how your day is going to go, so next time you have a particularly horrid one let it escape from your mind and out the window while you sleep, then wake up and follow this list the next morning. I can almost guarantee that by the time you finish step nine you'll be ready to face what the day wants to throw at you.

Filming little snippets of my month is quickly becoming one of my favourite things to do. I love getting to capture random little moments that I probably wouldn't usually remember once the month had passed, and editing them all together is super fun too.
