Put down your phone.
You don't need to know if someone's liked your instagram picture.
We read our newsfeed like it's scripture and how many of us really know why?
Because life is passing by in a series of moments that can't be captured in a status update.
But wait,
We'll still try,
We'll condense it for the screen, change its hues and saturations, make its grass a bit more green.
Because it's easier to live through the convenience of pixels than to deal with a life that we might have to fix.
We'll pretend we're connected but can you say that we are?
When we know more about people who live somewhere far than the ones that surround us,
The ones close to home.
Maybe you'd see them if you put down your phone.
Because our lives are all fleeting, we can't get them back.
So tell me,
Which filter looks better for that?
An attempt at a spoken word poem by yours truly.
